Summer of ‘25 at New City!
Dear Church,
We have an exciting summer in store for us at New City! Let’s break it down into three categories: (1) Small Group Discipleship, (2) Large Group Discipleship, and (3) Community Events.
First, Small Group Discipleship
Missionary: Docuseries and Discussion
Tuesdays at 7 PM, Starts May 6
The Cross-Cultural Missions Team will be hosting a six-part screening and discussion of the docuseries, Missionary: Obeying the Great Commission. It tells the stories of William Tyndale, Hudson Taylor, Amy Carmichael, William Carey, David Livingstone, and John Paton. Email missions[at]newcityhamilton.com to let them know you're coming!
Summer Book Club: Live Your Truth & Other Lies
Thursdays at 7:30 PM, Starts May 15, Register by May 10
Why is everyone so tired and anxious all the time? Could it be related to the popular cultural messages we have absorbed? What does the Bible say about messages like, “Live your truth!” or “You are enough!” or “Put yourself first!” And how is the gospel better?
Everyone is welcome to a six-session Summer Book Club, as we go through Alisa Childers' book, Live Your Truth & Other Lies. It is easy to read and highly accessible, with short and breezy chapters.
Second, Large Group Discipleship
We are happy to announce a new sermon series, One Anothering: Built Together into a Dwelling of God!
Beginning May 11 and continuing through June 29, we will look at eight “one another” commands given to us in the Scriptures. Namely, serve one another, encourage one another, build up one another, forgive one another, live at peace with one another, welcome one another, pray for one another, and love one another.
This series is the product of our year-long visioning exercise, through which God has called us to deep, Spiritual community. Ephesians 2:22 tells us that the Holy Spirit is building His church into a dwelling place for God. How, then, does He call his redeemed people to “set the table” for His powerful work? He does so by calling us to actively and intentionally love one another.
Through this series, we will look at a number of passages such as Galatians 5 and Hebrews 10 to help us understand God’s will for how we ought to live with one another within the Body of Christ. Please pray for the Spirit to work powerfully through this series to build us into a beautiful dwelling place of God!
Psummer Psalms
Beginning July 6 and continuing through August 31, as we have done frequently, we will return to the ancient songbook of God’s people, the Psalms.
Starting September 7, we will be starting a new series in the Book of Acts! Stay tuned for more information about this exciting new series.
Spiritual Health Inventory
As part of our goal to pursue a clear discipleship pathway, we are going to conduct a churchwide spiritual healthy inventory in the next month or so. To get a clearer picture of how we are doing as a church, we are asking everyone to complete this survey. We will send out a notice in the next few weeks!
Community-Building
Prayer & Praise
Throughout the summer months, we will continue to gather for prayer & praise! We are looking forward to gathering outdoors more frequently as the weather warms up. Please join us to pray and sing to our Lord! The next prayer and praise meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28 at 6:30 PM.
Kids Camp & Epic+Onside Camps
This year, we are offering two camp options for kids!
During the mornings of July 7-11 (M-F), we are hosting a traditional day camp for SK to Grade 6 children. We’ll be focusing on how we see the greatness of God in the smallest of things! Click HERE to register and HERE to volunteer.
In the afternoon of the same week (July 7-11), we are partnering with EPIC+ONSIDE to host an Epic Camp for SK to Grade 6 kids. This camp combines creative arts, games/sports, and Team Talk. Click HERE to register!
From July 28 - August 1, we are partnering with EPIC+ONSIDE again for a Multi-Sport Camp, where kids will engage in a variety of sports, games, and Team Talk. It is co-ed and open for all children of all skill levels. Click HERE to register.
These are not the only things we’ll be doing this summer. But I hope it whets your appetite as you think about your summer plans. Let’s enjoy our spring and summer months together!
