Welcome Aaron!

Dear church,

Please join me in welcoming Aaron Korvemaker as he begins a six-month, part-time, interim pastoral assistant position at New City!

Aaron was formerly an intern at New City for two summers starting in 2018 while he completed his M.Div. degree at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. I also had the pleasure of officiating Aaron and Amy’s wedding in 2020, at the height of COVID. Aaron accepted a call to Redeeming Grace Reformed Church (United Reformed Church in North America) and served as pastor from 2022 to 2025.

In God’s good wisdom, Aaron and Amy, along with their children, Zoe, Noah, and Ezra, landed back at New City in late 2025. After transitioning out of fulltime pastoring at Redeeming Grace, Aaron has been prayerfully exploring what his next steps would be, while they continue to worship with us.

At the same time, we at New City have been asking the Lord to provide us with an additional staff member who would help us fulfill our mission more effectively.

As we both wait on the Lord to direct our steps, we have decided to hire Aaron on an interim basis in order to (1) address some of our immediate needs as a church, and (2) to test whether this is a good, long-term fit for both parties.

Here are some of Aaron’s responsibilities:

  • Preach and administer the sacraments occasionally or as needed

  • Work with Moses to help manage the staff, ministries, and internship program

  • Assist with Sunday mornings

  • Prepare and coordinate the small groups ministry

  • Help strategize about outreach initiatives

We are excited to have Aaron join the New City staff team. Please welcome him and Amy warmly and pray for God’s grace and peace to strengthen and guide them during this time of transition for their whole family.

Thank you, church!

Moses
